Fano Carnival
Visit Fano during the month of February and experience one of Italy's most famous carnivals.The Carnivals slogan "bello da vedere, dolce da gustare" (beautiful to see, sweet to try) describes the month long festivities perfectly. Spectators are showered with thousands of chocolates, caramels and other sweets, the Papiere Mache School create a procession of floats and the "Musica Arabita" band play their wonderful compositions.

Food and Drink
Le Marche, like many regions in italy has it's traditional dishes. From the delicious fish of the Adriatic to the tasty dishes of the hills and mountains, Le Marche offer an incredible variety of food cooked in the traditional manner. There are a vast number of recipes for fish, often very similar right along the coast. Freshwater fish is also very popular, especially trout in the areas of Sefro in the upper Potenza valley and Ussits, at the foot of the Monti Sibillini.
Pork is the staple diet in the cuisine of the inland area. Although
most Italians are not aware of this, the porchetta (roast suckling
pig), a national favorite, originated from this region. As regards
cured pork products, there are the renowned carpegna hams, the salame
of Fabriano, ciausculu (a type of spreadable salami) from Visso.
Near the mount Sibillini Lentils are widely grown. These are eaten
with zamponi (stuffed pig’s trotters) and cotechino (pork sausage)
at Christmas time.
La Marches are also well known for their truffles, of both the black
and white variety (both funghi found in the inland area of the province
of Pesaro).
Ascoli Piceno’s speciality is olive all’ascolana. A dish
consisting of olives stuffed with minced meat, then fried.
The best known pasta dish is Le Marche is maccheroncini di Campofilone,
very thin tagliarini served with ragu.
Vincisgrassi is a celebrated dish of the region, dating form the 18th
century of which there are two variations, one from Ancona and other
other from Macerata. It consists of broad strips of home made pasta
alternated with layers of minced meat,mushrooms and béchamel

Wine Tasting
Le Marche produces some outstanding vini da meditazione, top class wines and can prove an excellent motive for visiting the region. Le Marches produces Verdicchio, one of Italy's best known white wines however Le Marches is world renown for red wines. Rosso Conero, Rosso Piceno, Rosso Piceno Superiore, Sangiovese dei Colli Pesaresi and Lacrima di Morro d'Alba are just a sample of the wines from the Marche region.
